Hypnotherapy/Life Coaching

The Foundation

This might not be surprising: both hypnotherapy and life coaching are also based on Solution Focused Brief Therapy. You can read more about SFBT and why it’s my primary approach on this page.
SF is such a flexible approach that it has a life outside the “traditional” therapy room. I also recognize we’re all different – what works brilliantly for one person might not be the best fit for someone else. That’s why I offer these services as alternative ways to experience the same forward-focused, strengths-based conversation.

HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnotherapy combines the SF conversation with guided hypnotic trance and brain-based coaching. We discuss your best hopes, your preferred future, what your brain does well (and how we might make it work even better), closing with hypnotic trance.

I don’t categorize people based on their worst days or reduce anyone to a diagnosis. That said, I recognize people often search for help using traditional categories. For practical purposes: whether you’re experiencing low mood, anxiety, stress, sleeping difficulties, unwanted habits, phobias, or any other challenge – the SF approach works with what you want to move toward, not what you’re moving away from.

The hypnotic state isn’t mysterious – it’s a focused, relaxed state where your brain can process what we’ve discussed differently. Change happens gradually, session by session. Even small shifts create momentum. Some people notice insights emerging during trance itself, while others simply find themselves responding to situations differently without consciously thinking about it.

Whose it for ?

Anyone who prefers experiencing the SF conversation alongside brain-based discussion and hypnotic relaxation. Some people find this combination particularly suits their learning style.

Session length: 75 minutes

Life Coaching

Solution Focused Life Coaching is the same SF conversation – exploring your best hopes, preferred future, and existing resources – without hypnosis and without the formal therapy setting. The questions might be tougher or more direct, but the principles are identical.
If you’re navigating life challenges but “therapy” doesn’t feel like the right word for what you need, this might suit you better.

Coaching also gives us more flexibility. While we stay grounded in SF principles, I can draw from brain science, other approaches, or my own experiences when they’re useful to you. Sometimes we might explore why the SF method works the way it does, or how you can apply these principles independently after our work together. The focus is always your best hopes, but the conversation can be as wide-ranging as serves you.

As a qualified meditation teacher, I can incorporate brief meditation practices into our coaching sessions if you feel it would be beneficial. This is entirely optional, but some people find it complements the SF conversation – enhancing self-awareness and supporting the changes you’re working toward.

Whose it for ?

Anyone seeking forward-focused support with life goals, career decisions, relationships, or general life improvement – in a coaching framework rather than therapy.

Session length: 50-60 minutes

Where you stand determines what you see and what you do not see; it determines also the angle you see it from; a change in where you stand changes everything.

I cannot change clients, they can only change themselves.
